Tighe Clark, 30, originally from Cambridge, Massachusetts, is a painter
working in Long Island City. His work draws from street art, popular and
mythological iconography, and found design and lettering to create open
ended, often dreamlike, allegories about the "humanimal" condition.
The scale of the work varies from small collage and gouaches on paper, to
large canvases in oil, to murals painted in house paint and spray enamel.
Recently Tighe has branched out to video & sound installations with live
performance components, collaborating with film maker Monty Nielsen
and musician Philip Ilatovsky.
Recently Clark's work has appeared in "Artists for Tsunami Relief" at
Phillips de Pury, New York, (March, 2005), "From A to B" at Dactyl Gallery
in NYC (July, 2005) and in "Random Strangers" at Rogue Buddha gallery
in Minneapolis (January, 2006) and is currently on view at EMF Installs in
Cambridge, Massachusetts (through March 9th).
